"Eli Brackets" Update??

Tapatio, I've got Eli's last brackets, uninstalled. I've tried them on my E350 And the rear brackets do not touch the window at all. You can try them out if you like.

Re: "Eli Brackets" Update??

Zeta, thanks for taking the lead on this one, it is greatly appreciated. If you can, you should get them galvanized before having them powdercoated. I wouldn't bother with the plasti-dip on your end.

I'm planning on using these to replace the stock SMB brackets that were already on the van (since removed). Has anyone else done this? Did you put the brackets in the same locations? How did you "close" off the existing holes from the original SMB brackets?

I did that. I had to modify one of Eli's brackets to fit the middle location. To seal the existing holes in the body, I simply used a bead of butyl sealer around each hole and the flat part of the awning bracket directly over the sealant.

Re: "Eli Brackets" Update??

Does someone know if these brackets are the same to fasten the auning on a Penthouse top and a Voyager top? If yes, I'm also interested to purchase a set. Thank you!

Re: "Eli Brackets" Update??

Update:

Going down to RSE next week to look at the SolidWorks drawings. I'm going to try to get 10-13mm out of the setback in order to clear the PH better. I had no trouble with the top hitting, but some did. Gonna leave them unfinished too so SMBers can do whatever they want with them after their check has cleared.
