Hammock ?

Has anyone tried hanging a hammock inside a PH SMB ?

Not sure that we would do that, but with an EB PH SMB, hhhmmmm

I wondered about the same thing before we got our van. It just wouldn't work the way ours is laid out. I don't know how you'd attach a hook or eye bolt, and to what. I have been working on how to hang some kid size beds down from the rails of the penthouse.

Off topic, but my oldest son does usually sleep in a Hennessy Hammock and a Big Agnes sleeping bag. He says it's the most comfortable he's ever been while camping. He really loves the combination. The hammocks are well design, you sleep in them at an angle so you're not sleeping with a bent spine. The nice part about the Big Agnes bags is that the mattress is the bottom of the bag so theres no rolling off.

In a related question...has anyone installed a cot over the front seats?
-SMB sells a set of pads, but they are large
-I imagine a camping cot could be modified to fit.

The old VW campers used to have a kids cot as an option over the seats and in the penthouse...see pic

I have a son who loves his Hennessy Hammock, too, and I have wondered about hanging a hommock in the SMB, but not a Hennessy Hammock. No need for the netting and fly. Seems it would just be one more thing to get in the way. If anyone figures this out, I'd love to see it.

Regarding the front seats... my son does sleep on the front seats. I built a bench that holds gear and goes between the two seats. We put a pad on top. He's 11 and still loves it. On our most recent trip we wanted to play some games and have the winner get to pick his sleeping location in the SMB. He did not want to play or even consider giving up his location to one of his sisters.
