Help - Old Pop-Top Roof Rack Interface Replacement

Hello All! I have a 1995 Sportsmobile with a Pop-Top/Penthouse and an existing roof rack. I'd like to replace the removable side of the interface and build a custom rack but I am unfamiliar with the interface name.

Is anyone familiar with what this interface is called? It seems that in the prevailing 26 years new standards have been made. Could it possibly be the same as the standard Econoline Roof ones? (I've heard them called rain gutter clamps.)

I took some photos and made some expert annotations:

Thanks for any tips! If you recommend a set I'm all ears!

Thank you!

I think that is a Yakima Rack. They did a setup that worked on the VW vans as well, tapping into the side of the fiberglass.

Yeah you are right. Rain gutter mounts. Thule or Yakima brands.
I don’t think there is anything newer or fancier. May just have to find replacements that are nicer.

A search will net some options (you may have to do some additional fabrication to retrofit them, but at least it gets you 1/2 way there):

A member here also makes mounts for awnings (believe its 1der???) that could possibly work - might reach out for him, or hopefully he will chime in.

etrailer has several variations:

Fiamma (awnings) may have something available as well

Your pictures look like you have the Thule "Artificial Rain Gutters" TH542

https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...ule/TH542.html

Yakima makes something similar called the "Widebody" mount, but slightly different look:

https://yakima.com/products/widebody-brackets

I have both the Thule and the Yakima mounts on my van, except that one pair is actually mounted upside down(the middle mount in my picture), and I have no clue as to why since I didn't install them.

Here is a pic of my PH:

I found that the cross bars would need to be very long to use the mounts, so I installed the Thule/Yakima tracks on top of the PH top and mounted shorter crossbars to the tracks.

The top I got had them as well but I’ve decided to make my own rack with 8020 aluminum extrusions.

I believe I have 6 of the “gutter plates” and 3 crossbars with feet in storage. If anyone would like to purchase them just let me know.

$200 obo plus shipping from 33444
