Help with awning brackets

Hey everyone...

I'm interested in installing an awning on my SMB and upon doing some research, it looks like the SMB brackets/install isn't the necessarily the best way. Although my SMB didn't come with an awning installed, I recently figured out that the two sets of screws/bolts above the rearward window appears to be for an awning. I checked the passenger door jam and there is a bolt as well.

My question is, if I were to purchase an awning, should I use the existing body mounts, or try to find a set of the "Z brackets"? I'm really not sure what is holding the screws/bolts in place right now since from what I can gather, the device that holds the bracket in is a rubber grommet type thing. Any advice and suggestions are helpful.

Re: Help with awning brackets

It looks like there was once an awning installed on your van, the holes are now probably plugged with silicon holding those bolts in place.......to avoid it looking like a couple of holes just plugged with silicon. I did the same thing to plug the holes left by my rear ladder. I would PM Zeta to see if there is a set of his brackets available.

I don't want to take a potential sale away from Z but if he doesn't have a set ready, I never used mine and still have them in the original shipping box. I would like to sell them.

A big rack? Not sure if I've ever see an awning mounted on the penthouse top.

If mikracer isn't interested in the Z brackets I would be. I'll stand in line behind him.

Only works if you have a fixed top or never put up the awning and the PH at the same time.

LenS is the only only one with an awning on the PH that I've seen.
