Hoop step interference with aux battery

I'm planning to put the aux batteries on the frame rail on the passenger side. This is the same location many diesel owners have a battery. I'm also planning a Carr superhooop in that location.

Does anybody know if there will be an interference between the battery box and the hoop step mounting bracket? The battery I'm looking at is a Group 31 mounted on its side, which will protrude from the frame rail about 10" including the battery box. This is about 1.5" more than the stock battery box.

I don't think it will work. I only have 12" between the frame and body and my Carr hoop step mounting bracket takes up 3" of it, the dimension you have the question makes in.

Re: Hoop step interference with aux battery

Thanks for the info, scatter and jwintersteller. Back to the drawing board. I may end up with Group 65 batteries.

Re: Hoop step interference with aux battery

I emailed Carr and they confirmed that the dimension is 3".

Re: Hoop step interference with aux battery

I just checked mine again. Bracket itself is 3-1/16" (sorry Carr). Depending on what angle you rotate the step to make it level, it will stick out past the bracket. Mine takes up 3-1/4" of space. There is plenty of material on the back of the aluminum part itself to where I would think you could grind some off to keep it to the width of the bracket. You could also grind a little off the back of the bracket.
So, I could have fit mine into a 3" space with a little effort.

Go for it.

Re: Hoop step interference with aux battery

Thanks for checking it again. In either case I need to revise my battery plan, or give up on the Carr hoop step. I would probably just rip it off on a stump anyhow.
