Having recently bought a second van, I wanted to source another set of tilt-out windows for the rear doors. A 60-degree day here in the Philly area prompted me to knock of work a bit early today and go troll the local(ish) pick-n-pull junkyard, which listed several e-vans that have only been in the yard for a week or two. Alas, none had the pop-out windows that I wanted. But then on the way out I spotted a set on a van that was in the soon-to-be-crushed pile! It was a highly sketchy removal job, with the van balanced on a 15-foot-high pile of discarded alternators and another van perched on top. Oh, and the rear doors wouldn’t open, either, so I had to do the entire removal from outside only. I was kinda proud of myself for making it happen (and not killing myself in the process). And the best part? Total out the door price was $34 for the set of two! Score. Click image for larger version

I know! It was crazy. The pile was probably 10-15 feet high and like 30-40 feet long. My only thought is they stockpile them and then sell to a recycler or something when copper prices go up?

Junkyards are cool!

Outside only removal?
You must be a patient person!

Thanks for the play-by-play @BrianW! I just replaced mine and it was a breeze, credit to your post. On that note, I have 2x 5% tinted rear windows to give away if you're near SF, CA. Peace and happy vannin'!

Thanks, BrianW! I used your post to guide me through installing pop-outs in my van today. Piece of cake.
