Ok. I've got my engine back in, I'm working electrical things, and my brakes lights are always on. This is because the stop lamp switch is not fully depressed in the "brake pedal up position"


Given that I've got used parts for this assembly, I beg the question:


Did the pedal throw change when you all upgraded to hydro boost ?

I don’t think I noticed mine change. I can’t recall how the switch sits on the post in the pedal. Do you have a photo?

If I remember right, I think MG had a similar problem and made himself a small extension for the push rod.

That switch is much different than my 2009. Mine is a single rod down onto a welded plate

New question : How does the hydroboost line route? The Pump to Brake booster line I have has many odd bends, and I'm wondering if I got the wrong part.

FYI I'm dealing with the 6.0 here, and I never had the opportunity to see the routing of a hydroboost system.

Here is a video what I'm dealing with, luckily I still have the front end torn apart.

Hydroboost brakes

I used stainless braided ptfe hose for the high pressure lines after first mocking it up with cheap vinyl tubing. Then had a local hydraulic shop cut the real lines to length and crimp the flare fittings on. The shop will have adapters to go from the pump, hydroboost and gearbox to the flare fittings on the new hoses.

I also used the same fittings with barbed ends for the low pressure hoses.

This way you can run the hoses wherever you want hold them in place with your choice of clamps/zip ties whatever. I also just think they look cooler.

I think I was just over $100 for the two high pressure hoses (from pump to hydroboost and from hydroboost to gear box).

I mounted a small trans cooler behind my grill that the low pressure from gearbox goes through before returning to the pump.

The rag in the photo is leftover from me trying to track down a leak associated with the first set of crappy hose ends I used.

I'm thinking custom may be the solution, unfortunately, as it's actually probably more reliable long term.
Can you send a photo of the bottom end of your assembly? I'm curious how to navigate the u-turn that is the exit from the PS pump

Unfortunately I don’t know how the 6.0 is set up. I have an old 12v cummins in mine so the pump comes off right next to the crankcase on the driver side. I’ll try to find some better pics but you can kinda see it in the last one. And in the other two you can see the clear tubing I used to mock it up and the “diy” fittings that ended up leaking before I went to crimped on.

They make all sorts of different angled fittings to get around stuff. Look up ptfe braided hose. Here’s a link to examples but I would definitely get them made rather than use this brand like I first did. Fine for low pressure stuff though…
