Insulating exhaust pipe

I have been thinking about insulating my exhaust pipe to limit how much heat comes up through the floor. I have insulated my walls and roof so everything is great when I drive. When I am sitting the back heats up because I only have some thick rubber mat on the floor. I havent decided what I want for flooring yet.

I figure I could get a couple rolls of the fiberglass they use on motorcycle exhausts.

I like the idea. The temps in the back of my van seem to go up 10deg's or so when I stop, and I have a rubber mat with carpet padding and carpet on top. Even then, the heat soaks through. I assume most of the heat comes from the exhaust, with the majority from the converter and then the muffler. I wonder if you can wrap the converter and muffler too?

There was a guy on the diesel forum that wrapped his entire exhaust including a turbo blanket and noticed lower cabin temps, lower cabin noise and quicker throttle response.
He has/had a full stainless 4 inch steel turbo back system.
(I haven't seen any post from him in a long time...)

I wraped mine down till to the first (and only) muffler. I did not feel noticable change in response or noise. But for shure less temperatur at the dog house.

I have the 6.0 Diesel. It used to get hot at the dog house in the cab. I wrapped everything I could. Also insulated the oil cooler lines next to the exhaust (seems logical not to heat the oil).

It’s morecomfortable in the drivers seatnow.
