L-Track mounted on the underside of the bed??

Has anyone mounted L-Track or YakAttack GearTrac or some other similar track system to the underside of the bed? I would like to be able to hang things like jacket shell, gloves, ski helmets and goggles, and other lightweight items from the underside of the bed when the PH top is up and the bed is in the lifted position.(We have a single piece bed with a walkthrough floor plan)

Can anyone, that might have rebuilt their PH bed, tell me what the bottom of the bed is made out of? 3/4" plywood? Just wondering if there is enough material to screw a track into it and not be sleeping on the sharp end of a screw!

On my van you can feel the structure (wood base) the bed is made from right through the fabric. Pretty sure mine is 3/4" ply from when I replaced the screws holding my boat cleats in place. On a side note, I like your idea of mounting track to the underside of the bed platform. Please post an update of this project if you go through with it!

Cheers!

Have you considered cargo net? Many places will make-to-order (size, strength, #of attachment Points, size of strapping & space between, etc). Anything additional you want to hang off it can easily be done with a carabiner on the outer edges of the cargo net framework. Just an idea.

Cargo net won’t quite work as one of the things I am hoping to hang from it would be a RAM mount for a tablet we have a bench seat that I am thinking of hanging the tablet down far enough to view from the bench seat/bed.

Our '98 RB50 PH 2 piece bed IS 3/4" ply.
(We recently replaced the foam.)
If weight is a concern and wood screws into the bottom won't cut it, removing the fabric and foam is pretty straight forward. Then you could countersink machine screws through the top.
If you do this, be patient. There's a hecka lot of staples to pull!

Thanks for the info Swanny. I am also considering glue to attach the L track as a possibility, but good to know I have 3/4" most likely to sink a screw into as well.

I did this, makes a handy tablet mount for those early winter nights

I think I used every other screw hole in the track with some 1/2 screws and it is pretty secure, although I do remove the mount before driving.

I put up some Pit-Pal aluminum shelving in my enclosed trailer. (8) 4 foot shelves and was forced to use wood screws into 1/2" plywood walls due to no access to do what i prefer and that's of course a machine screw and a nylon lock nut. I dipped the wood screws in 3M 5200 Marine adhesive and then screwed it in. 22 years later and guessing in the 100,000 mile range and not one shelf or even a single screw has loosened.

Could you post a link to the track you purchased for this, I see it has finished edges, Im looking to do two down each side of the rear platform to hang backpacks and gear off, I will likely through bolt a few screws through the plywood.
