Maybe you can see imperfections close up, but that looks awfully good from my view!

Yep, looks good. What really matters is does your son sleep well on it?
The SMB one I have is very very firm. One day I will replace the foam.

I think I would keep it, and forget about a SMB-one. Nice job.

Thanks all! Here’s what it looks like with the top up. I would have liked fabric to match the gray in my van, but got such a good price on this brownish fabric that I couldn’t pass it up. I guess it kinda blends with the tan PH walls when top is up.

Put the finishing touches on the bed platform today. I couldn’t find nice screws with washer heads in white to finish off the bottom, so had to paint bare ones white. Turned out well and they look nice I think.

Brian if it is too soft/firm/thin etc, you probably know it is pretty easily refoamed...we used some 5/8" or so very high density memory foam from carpet source, and high density foam over that on a rebuild of an original sportsmobile bed...came out pretty comfy. Limiting factor is roof height which tends to vary, even on the fords...
Looks good!

Yes, I could switch out the foam but it would be a bit of a hassle. My 16 year old son can sleep pretty much anywhere so I think this will be fine [emoji3] In any event it’s better padding than the OEM bed in our last SMB. The roof height is definitely the limiting factor to addind thickness...
