Mods for 33" to 35" tire

I am wanting to get my SMB on 35's the next time we go shoe shopping. My question is does any know if ORD 1" zero rate add-a-leaf blocks would be a safe way to go up in the front and back of my factory SMB? I know adding anything to the front is frowned upon but can someone with true wizardly knowledge chime in. Thanks

Seriously though, you can fit 35's on a stock SMB. You just need to do some trimming at the back of the front fenders. I prefer to call it aggressive manipulation.

What does "stock" or "factory" SMB mean?

If you have their 4x4 conversion 35's will fit. Of course not all 35's come equal and some are wider or taller than others.

It's a SMB conversion done in 06' with a leaf sprung Danatrac front end. I guess that's what I should have said.

Ya, they didn't start doing their own conversion with an Atlas transfer case until 2003/2004(?) and most of the older ones are quigleys. Those have more issues with clearance and as a result SMB spec'd 33's. But 35s will fit on the SMB conversion without additional trimming. I have just a slight bit of rub at full turn with 315/75/16 Duratracs. The Duratracs are 12.3" (un-mounted) but mounted and sitting on the ground it's closer to 13". It's a lot of rubber to run on a 16" wheel (9"+ of sidewall).

What tires are you looking at? Tire research can be a big rabbit hole.

cant really say that as a banquet statement. theres so many variables with converted vans that each one will be different than the next, even within the same company. I just put 315/70/17's on my Quigley and the only trimming I had to do was to the front bumper. took longer to get out tools and setup than it did to do the actual mods.

I put Deaver springs on mine which lifted it about an inch more, has SMB conversion with dynatrac, and still my new 35's hit the fender, dead stop, so I had the fenders trimmed, great links here on how and now they have lots of room.
