Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

For the states that have rules requiring Mud Flaps, is there a measurement on how far/close away from the wheels they have to be?

Dave,

I seem to remember a mudflap has to reach down below the axle centerline.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I'm thinking of removable flaps off the hitch bar. Since we don't need them in Ca (Yet!) I just want to comply with other state rules. I'd rather not be too close to the rear tires (I've seen them ripped off while backing in poor terrain) and exhaust for the obvious reason.

Second question:
Are they required in the front?

So Dave, are you talking about in front of the front tires? Just in case you do a lot of backing up?

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Way ahead of ya Herb. If they're removable I can put them on the front or back I also heard Ca is going to require mud flaps as well but being our state is on the leading edge of common sense laws they are also going to require a mud flap on the rear spare...the question is on the passenger side or driver side

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Dave ,
I will get you the name of some very well made Removable Flaps that attach to your hitch plumbing . These were recommended to my Daughter and Son In law for their new Airstream by a number of people on the Airstream Forum . I will let you know how they perform upon on return from an adventure that we are having this weekend .

Just to let you know Gregg, I keep a shackle in the receiver itself but I'm still interested.
