Oh man the rear swing out looks awesome. Would be cool if you converted the step gap into a storage compartment

What are you guys doing about coating the bare metal.

I have lived within a block of the ocean for the last 10 years and EVERY steel bumper I have had has rust problems - even Powder Coated.

Only aluminum bumpers have held up to the salt air.

Even my Stainless Steel Reunel bumper gets surface rust that buffs out easily.

Salt water eats just about all steel that's not protected by a coating. Steel boats go through an extensive process to seal the hulls underwater. As long as the coating is intact, no rusting takes place. For something like a bumper, POR would be great stuff to start out with prior to painting, but eventually, it's going to rust. Touch up the paint as soon as you see rust and every ten years or so, just pull it and sand blast. Or just enjoy the patina, it's all the rage on rat rods these days.

One thing with Por-15 is that it doesn't tolerate UV so it will need to be sealed (it also fades from UV). Love the stuff but where it doesn't see sun. Good steel (cold rolled) will be quite a lot more resistant, never had issues with my previous bumper and Sliders and they were on the Patrol for a good 6 years. A bit of touch up goes a long way

True, it needs to be top coated. Here's the stuff they sell, but you can use your own too.

TOP COAT

I have the pictured bumper from HNC on order and in the process of being fabricated. I'll post a report on quality and fit once it's installed. Should be in the next 3-4 weeks.

Please do. Been eyeing their stuff. What brushguard configuration did you get?

Mine is here and in the middle of installing it. First impressions are quality is top notch, welds are beautiful. I'm really excited and will post pics soon.
