There is a good reason i tried to avoid the word "quiet".
Before I did this the noise was obnoxious, the radio had to be up all the way to 50+ and you had to yell to have a conversation when traveling at speed.
Now the noise is reasonable, the radio sounds great at 40 and really loud at 50. conversations are easy even with the windows down.
Although the exhaust isn't that loud and it sounds nice and healthy, a quieter muffler would be great, especially when climbing long steep grades.
According to the manufacturer of Rockwool:
- Excellent sound absorbency
- Non-combustible, fire-resistant up to 2150 F
- Easier and faster to install
- Water-resistant
- Made from natural and recycled materials - user friendly, no fiberglass in product
- Better fit, flexible edge compensates for normal frame variability, cuts easily
- GREENGUARD certified; chemically inert - CFC and HCFC free product and process
- Does not promote growth of fungi or mildew
- Friction fit to ensure optimum performance, no sag over the years
- According to me -"easy to take out"
Rockwool seemes like the best fit for my needs. Other products might be cheaper or have better R value, but those two aspects are low on my list of priority's. I only needed one package for the whole van ($51.98 at Lows) and insulating a windowed van seems a bit like a fools errand.
