Outdoor shower mod

Here's a simple way to add an outdoor shower to the back of your van. It came out pretty nice so I thought I would share.

My wife sewed 3 standard size shower curtains together to form a loop which keeps water from splashing inside.

[Edit] Plastic clamps broke, changed to 1/2" rubber insulated metal clamps.

Shower curtain rod is an aluminum tent pole.

Found these S shaped carabiners at Home Depot

The whole setup fits in the rear door compartment

I had some old redwood that I used to make a shower mat. The slats are strung together with marine grade shock cord and copper spacers.

That's really cool! If you want to go a step further, I have had great luck with this item. It's great for times when you don't want to leave a big puddle behind your van! It packs down to about the size of a sleeping bag.

I did the same thing...used an old tent pole. I stow it in a breathable bag so it dries fast

You should sell them as kits!

Nice! We want to try something like this.
Does the shower curtain cross over to cover the opening into the interior of the van?
Did you take a tent pole from your tent or buy it separately?

Re: Outdoor shower mod

The curtain wraps around to cover the doors and the inside. I'll take some more detailed pictures of it the next time I set it up. The pole I used was from an old North Face tent that we rarely use anymore. It measures 11 feet and is about 3/8" thick. Any pole that is flexible enough to make a half loop between the doors should work. I saw a bunch on Amazon for around $20, search "replacement tent pole".
