Possible to add height to a High Top?

Is it possible to add a spacer between a van roof and a high top to create more internal height? I am looking at a van with a 16" high top and would like more head room and would prefer to use the existing high top if possible.

Thanks.

As a follow up question. Can a pop-top easily replace a high top? Are there any that are compatible regarding roof openings?

The ones I've seen, modified VW highroofs, all look like the roof was sectioned near the top and a piece added in to make it even taller.

Sell the top you have and get the one you want.

This. Although removal can be a challenge depending the style, when it was installed, and how they did it.

You could check with Colorado Camper van, and ask if they can convert your existing top to a pop-top. When they first started, all of their pop-tops were modified Fiberine tops, and only later did they start doing their own fiberglass.

Agreed, you're talking about major fab and reconstruction here including the hard part of adding a taller top, which is removing old one and reinstalling whatever goes on. Adding the spacer would actually even be harder than that.
I wouldn't want to drive down the highway with a fiberglass Whopper on top of my van.

Also, whoever can make a spacer can probably just make a top.

A spacer would give you an added seam that you need to deal with, and therefore another opportunity for water intrusion.
