Re: Re-finishing the PH Top (Raptor Liner)

I like the Line-X on the ladder. Thinking of doing the same now this summer.

Just to be clear the entire area behind the ladder is Baja Tan color matched Line-X.

Saline, from the pics it looks like you initially taped over the Yak or Thule tracks but then ended up spraying them anyway? Unless they won't sit flat on the rougher texture, why not just take them off like everything else.

Awsome write-up!

Re: Re-finishing the PH Top (Raptor Liner)

I just masked off the top track portion and ended up spraying the rest of the rails because they were faded. Not a fan of the faded black look.

This is the best price for Raptor Liner that I found. http://www.tptools.com/p/2600,233_U-Pol ... r-Kit.html

Re: Re-finishing the PH Top (Raptor Liner)

Saline and Canyonriver, any regrets from a heat standpoint in going to a black top? I have a silver van like Canyon River, so good to see the pictures to see what a black top would look like. I'm just concerned the summer sun and black roof would raise the inside temp a lot.

I washed the van yesterday (way overdue) and found that I have a lot more clear coat cracks and peeling on the roof, so I think this project has just moved up my list.

Thanks,
Phil

I'm also curious about the black top but I've also heard that car color is a fallacy. White is no cooler than black.

Re: Re-finishing the PH Top (Raptor Liner)

I have never noticed a difference but my van is dark green. I also have a large cargo box and a solar panel shading a good portion of the top anyway.

Re: Re-finishing the PH Top (Raptor Liner)

I also have not noticed a difference of temperature inside the van. I equate this to the amount of insulation crammed into the top from the bed and top itself when the top is down and then when the top is up there is plenty of moving air. My biggest concern when I decided to go with the black was not the heat but just making the roof such a contrasting color to silver but I am very happy with the outcome on all issues.

Re: Re-finishing the PH Top (Raptor Liner)

Thanks for the replies. Guess I won't worry about temp. Now I just need Saline or Canyonrover to come do mine for me! Steaks and beer in it for you!
