The glass panels are readily available at local supply shops. The issue is sourcing the correct frame for the pop out setup. I have a set on my van and they are awesome for the increased air flow. Be warned, they are not meant to be open while driving as the carbon monoxide pullover from the negative pressure pocket behind the van can be deadly. I do drive with them open periodically, but only when I have other windows open to produce fresh air recirculation within the cabin.

I believe (y'know, I read it on the internet) that this is the reason they are no longer offered.

Cheers,
Brent

I work with Ford daily; my experiences suggest the pop out windows were cut from the platform for cost cutting or supplier related issues. I haven't heard of a documented case relating their function to deaths, but it wouldn't be surprising. OEMs work hard to keep those incidents quiet.

I've driven thousands of miles with mine open and am still around to tell the tale. Not once did my CO2 detector go off, either. Although, we almost always have the front windows open to get flow through the van. I believe Chevy still offers these on their vans.

I think that was the best part about adding them. Being able to have the front windows all the way down and not feeling like it was gonna blow you out of your seat, just a nice gentle breeze...

Sorry just had to add.

Went back to the salvage yard and a new donor had arrived. I was able to get all of the hardware for the 40 side window and the two rear pop outs. The Passenger Rear glass was already taken, though I am not a big fan of the mirrored finish on the side and rear glass I do have. I think I am going to get new tinted glass anyway. Anyone have a great auto glass supplier? I have seen it on Amazon and some on ebay, but have not decided which way to go...

Thanks all for your help thus far.

Nice! I wish I could help on the glass but I don't know.

Did you use the butyl or RTV sealant? The Butyl is so messy, which is okay, just wondering which way to go.

I went with the RTV and made sure to be thorough on it. I was a little worried about leaking but it was pouring rain the last couple of days and I didn't have any issues.

The butyl tape was easy and not messy at all IMO. Fits perfectly in the channel in the window frame.
