Rebolting Penthouse

Thanks.

Is this the pivot bolt you bought?

https://www.boltdepot.com/Product-Detai ... duct=14042

Just measured the smb one. 1/4" diameter and 2 1/4" length like you mentioned.

So these shoulder bolts will be 3/8" longer than the original smb ones it appears.

Looks like them, can't remember if they were longer. Just make sure the extra length is on the inside so it doesn't rub on the tent.

Re: Rebolting Penthouse

I just went to replace my scissor bolts..
I supported the side I was working on and removed the bolt (it's in perfect condition) and now I cant get the arms back into phase with each other so I can't thread the bolt through. Am I missing something?

Re: Rebolting Penthouse

The whole roof should be fully supported.

Re: Rebolting Penthouse

Thanks. I realized I chose poorly on two fronts.
1) Attempting to do this with having the roof supported on only one side
2) Attempting to reconcile poor choice #1 by myself without another set of hands.

I used a ratchet strap and I was able to get the bolt in without much issue.

I am in the process of doing this now. My pivot bolt broke and needed replaced. I managed with some friends to lift the top and brace it with 2x4's, but now the holes won't line up. How did you use the ratchet strap to get them closer? Thanks.

If you haven't solved it yet, see my post earlier in this thread. You must get the spring tension off the bars......
