I agree that careful packing is the most important consideration in keeping items from getting tossed around in a vehicle fridge. We just returned from Africa where we rented a Land Rover with a top loading Engel fridge bolted inside. The trails were so rough that even our eggs inside of a plastic egg box were crushed, making a gooey mess inside the fridge.
In our US off-road adventures we have used three different front-loading fridges in different vehicles. Food has always survived with minimal damage, but the fridges get stained by aluminum beverage cans bouncing around in their compartments.

For me any thing less than a velvet ride class A, I'd chose a chest. Pick your brand

I have the original Dometic in my 1997 RB50. FWIW I much prefer it over a top loader fridge for ease of access and organization. Like others here have said, just be smart when you load it. The fuller it is the better efficiency wise and to keep things from rolling around. Definitely make sure you latch the door closed before you start driving! (You'll be reminded pretty quickly if you don't.) And whatever you install, I highly recommend adding solar. I have a 200 watt system and my fridge will run indefinitely as long as I get a few hours of sun a day.
