replace fresh water drain valve

I need to replace the fresh water tank drain valve on my 2001 GTRV. It is located on the passenger side rear corner of the van and attached to a drain line that goes to the fresh water tank. It has always been difficult to turn and awkward to access. Last weekend I noticed that it appears to be cracking and I had to open and close it very carefully by gripping it with pliers and a rag.

I believe this is the one that is on there (see image). I would like to replace it with a brass valve if such a thing exists. So two questions, 1) do I simply unthread it from the plastic drain line and 2) is there a brass replacement?
