Speedy stitcher is amazing, I use it for straps all the time. That said I wouldn't want to put more holes in the canvas- it's not just rain but condensation to consider and even with waxed thread you're still introducing stitching.

I patched my shelter-logic with HH-66 PVC Vinyl Cement Glue doing the old school rubber cement trick where you let it dry on both pieces and then apply. I think that technique, with the penthouse fabric and proper glue (tested on some spare spare penthouse fabric) would be the ideal solution- no heat.

I'm pretty sure the canvas is treated with something for water shedding/water proofing, and I'm not sure what heat will do to it. As a backup you can always use the speedy stitcher is the patch peels (which is my plan for the shelter-logic).

I'd ask SMB for patching techniques and what the "right" glue is when you're asking for your fabric swath...

Of course...we all have some of that laying aound.....

maybe the flap near the rear hook.......my top doesn't even have one of those....I've just seen those in pictures.
