RSE Retractable Step Sliders

Heading to central CA in a couple weeks to explore the Big Sur back country. If anyone would like me to bring them a set of step sliders I could meet them in Carmel, or somewhere along the way, and save them shipping costs. Or if you'd just like to check them out, pmail me.

Tom

Re: RSE Retractable Step Sliders

They look great Tom. I think I found something else on which to spend money for my SMB. Especially after breaking one of the steps on my rig going over some rocks. What is the price installed? Are they installed in Logan? I have no mechanical skills so could not do it myself.

For those who haven't seen these yet. I've had mine for more than six months and like them more every day. Five sets left...

Re: RSE Retractable Step Sliders

I was wondering if they can be left open/down when camping at least the right side?
And how is the step light wired, when does it turn on and such?
Do they just bolt to the pinch weld of the van and then have some frame brackets to make them more sturdy?
Do they have an uninstalled price? I know if I have to ask...
Can they be shipped and installed at home?

I like the video music, and those red Crocs...

I think they look nice and should offer a great level of protection to the lower sides of an expensive van while off roading...

Great more things I need to save for...Red Crocs and Rock Slide Engineering Steps...

They can be left down using the switch on the dash--just deploy them by opening the doors and switch them off. I leave mine down in the garage and while camping.

They have their own wiring harness so all you have to supply is 12v and ground--on my rig we pulled battery power from the on-board air compressor relay which is under the van already. They use magnetic door switches so you don't have to splice into the Ford door switches. Very simple wiring. The switches, harness and control unit are included.

There is a bracket that bolts to--and strengthens--the pinch weld, and there is a bracket that bolts to the body with high strength nutserts. I added some brackets from the pinch weld to the van's frame, but I don't think they were necessary. Watch the video--that fat guy weighs 350+ and they don't flex at all.

The step/sliders are $2300 uninstalled and can be shipped. You will need a high quality nutsert tool though. Otherwise they bolt on.

Re: RSE Retractable Step Sliders

Tom,

Thanks for the information...

What size nutsert do they use?

How many are used?

Re: RSE Retractable Step Sliders

Maybe Jamie will buy a set if a pair of red Crocs are thrown in.
