Rubber grips for Aluminess ladder?

After several close encounters of falling from the top steps of the side ladder (while collecting gear from our roof storage box), we find ourselves looking to resolve a safety issue; Our ladder becomes quite slippery when wet so we have tried several solutions (non slip tape, self adhesive 1/4" rubber) but none seem to last longer than a year. I just came across a Sportsmobile currently listed on e-bay with what looks like rubber hose on the handle & steps of the ladder - possibly just what I'm looking for. So far we've come up short on trying to identify what it is.

can anyone recommend a long term solution? or identify the rubber hose being used?

Seems to me the rubber hoses the green van used was because of the surfboards not because of slipping.

To prevent slipping I put skateboard grip tape on the rungs my ladder. Works great.

I was just about to do this to my van. Surfboard traction pads are perfect and designed to get wet. This is a great one to cut to purpose.

Also, you could use skateboard grip tape:

I think I am going to go with the surfboard traction pad.

After opening the links, I believe i'm sold on trying the Surfboard traction mat. I've tried something similar to the skateboard grip tape (it was actually outdoor step self adhesive anti-slip tape, which began peeling after a few months). I'm intrigued with the Surfboard pad since it's use alone suggests its designed to endure the elements. Time will tell. Thanks for the input!

I installed adhesive backed 60 grit (?) anti-slip stair strips 5 years ago and they are still holding fine. Got them either at ACE or Home Depot. Think it came in roll and I cut them to width.

Very sure footed but I do not want to slid my hands over them.

I really think any smooth van ladder would be unsafe without a friction covering on the steps. Surprised the vendor doesn't per-install them.

Clean the steps with alcohol on a clean rag prior to putting anything adhesive backed on your steps.

We also used the grip tape type stuff. It has held up great so far. Careful of your shins if you like your skin.

This is probably the best grip tape on the market if you go that route. Not sure how flexible it is for that application though.

4th year with the Home Depot grip tape. No issues so far except for a couple scratched up shins when I wasn't being careful.
