Superwinch Husky 10000 in Aluminess?

Has anyone tried to fit a Superwinch Husky 10000 in the aluminess front bumper?

I talked to Dave at Aluminess and we went over the limited specs that Superwinch has on the web site and we couldn't determine for sure if it would fit. It is really close depth wise and it mounts differently than the other winches.

I have a message into Superwinch for better specs but haven't heard back yet.

Thanks for any info,
Mark

I don't have the specs but you might try SMBW. They put a different Winch in the WAVE van for Lance and my impression is they might be shopping around for a different winch manufacture for their vans. I had what I can say is the worst customer service from Warn for a warrenty on my winch. All I will say is I will NEVER buy another Warn Product again.

I think the superwinch mounts foot forward. If I'm thinking right this is a problem in the aluminess bumper

Re: Superwinch Husky 10000 in Aluminess?

Myriadmyriad mounted a foot first winch with an L plate. Of course he then sold the bumper and winch together... not sure how much of that was not wanting to take it apart again. I think it was a Warn 15K, and I'm pretty sure the plate and winch have to go in separately as the opening is the limiting factor.

Of course I'm still using the front bumper as a trunk for the foreseeable future, so this is all speculation on my part.

Re: Superwinch Husky 10000 in Aluminess?

I'm pretty sure it mounts feet down but like I say the specs available online suck. It pretty much is only the depth we are worried about. Dave says that he has 9.5" depth at a critical point where it looks like the husky might need 9.75".

Thanks,
Mark

Re: Superwinch Husky 10000 in Aluminess?

Jage,
Yeah we found those but the picture is a bit unclear about the depth dimension. We basically needed to know if the 9.75" where the motor is tapers down to 9.5" (or less) quickly enough to clear a 9.5" support in the bumper. It is looking like I'll have to find a dealer somewhat close to see if it will fit. Might just go with the EP12.5 and save a bunch of money though.

I wonder if it's so close that a little bit of grinder work would help. I've been drooling over this winch but you would have to dig up the specs. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/s ... hp?t=41976

I can't figure out what that thing is that's sticking out the back to 9.75". I've looked for photos from the top or side, but the only thing I can find is front from the left a bit. And I'm not even buying one!

Re: Superwinch Husky 10000 in Aluminess?

I installed a Husky winch in my bumper. Nothing lines up or fits. I hacked up the bumper,so I sold it cheap. Did not like it any way, it blocked too much airflow. My tube bumper works very well.

Cheers

Jeff
