Well group brainstorming is often how we come up with good ideas.

Ok, so if you pop the trim pieces off your current windows, you'll find the "hinge" is really just a flexure. So, it will open further if you disconnected the latch (mine have emergency exit releases) but the joint will permanently deform and it won't close back up. I suppose you could fit up some fancy multi-link cabinet hinges to make the geometry work to maintain a good seal. Converting to the quick-release latch is pretty however.

The Chevy contractor doors that Scotty posted probably have hinges that would work perfect, but I'm pretty sure they only sold about 17 of those vans before discontinuing that option, so it might be hard to find.

Mod vans did a pop-open version of the Transit side windows, but that involved a full swap to polycarbonate rather than glass. I'm not even sure they kept that option on the production version.

That makes complete sense. Where the hinge point is a tongue and slot type, it could easily bend, if pushed too far. So, if I disconnect the locking point, I should be able to find the "oh shit" point. And, limit opening to that.

I would like to see a photo of your quick release locks. Mine are Ford stock latches. I guess the pin could be driven out, and replaced with a snap pin.
