Re: Toyo Tire Failure?

On my second set of M/T's and no failures yet. A fantastic off-road tire and put up with some of the on-road shortcomings. I have punished them pretty good off-road and only damage has been some chunks of tread missing. Nothing that made the tires undrivable.

Yes, I thought they did something with my steering at Les Schwab. I was all over the road with the 285 75 16 MT's so thanks for the info...probably saved me some money. After some wear, they have mellowed a bit.

Re: Toyo Tire Failure?

With about 200,000 miles on Open Country ATs and about 60,000 miles on M55s, I have only had 1 tire fail, and it did not fail completely. The OC/AT that failed blistered on the sidewall, but it was 500 pounds overloaded at the time, and is the reason my van is now a dually. Luckily, Les Schwabs are plentiful around here, so it only turned out to be a 20 minute delay while they swapped on a new tire (no charge of course). I also bent a steel wheel once when I was T-boned by Honda, but the tire was fine.

Since the van became a dually, I have broken 2 different wheels, but have not lost a tire.

And yes, the van does get pretty extensive off-road use, both low speed and high-speed.

Re: Toyo Tire Failure?

Backed into my Nitto with the tractor mower deck guard. Does that count? There is a nice scrape but no failure in 1,330 miles since.

I guess if I'd had Toyo the guard would have been mangled instead, eh?
