Trailers
I just got back from Death Valley. Marble Canyon was the highlight of the trip, a fantastic walk as was the entire trip for the most part. The big gripe was coming out of our base camp in Echo Canyon. My SMB trailer broke a leaf spring. It caused some fiberglass damage to the trailer but more important, it left me stranded in a wash with a big storm heading in. I had to do some scrambling. We got lucky when a ranger (Bob) who I met last year came up the wash with some friends. He advised going to Pahrump or Las Vegas NV, but Pahrump being about 60 miles away was 1st choice. Anybody pulling a trailer in this area should keep this number on hand. These guys have service as good as SMB, just don’t judge them by their location as it looks like…...well they work out of their trailer way out of town. They do have a mobile welding vehicle to come make repairs. I would trust them more than anyone in my home town. It was great to find such service in the middle of nowhere. I’m not sure if they can work on the vehicle springs, but if I were in a jam I would call them.

Good advise is to carry 2 extra springs (I plan to bolt some to the undercarrige) and to change both in this situation. A fault like this at high speed would be...BAD.
