Water Pump

How many SMB owners have had to replace their water pump. Just wonder how many have gone bad. Maybe mine is just Murfy's law as I am heading out Saturday for Moab and points East on my way to the Texas Hill Country to do my usual wildflower pictures.
BTW< Peter is sending me a new one over night UPS. Power to the pump, but nothing through the motor to the cut-off switch.

Re: Water Pump

I replaced mine. Not to difficult. It made noise, but no flow. Probably a bad diaphram.

Look on the bright side - better to lose it before the trip than during the trip!

And on the even brighter side, be glad it's the fresh water pump rather than the van water pump. That's what I thought the first time I read your post.

Re: Water Pump

Oh, fresh water pump! I've run mine for hours- leaky valve + driving + bumping switch + not stopping to determine exact cause of noise (a lesson I refuse to learn). The thing burnt my fingers it was so hot, but a year later and it's still good.

Re: Water Pump

Thanks everyone, I guess mine is just a fluke. It worked earlier in the day yesterday but when I was loading things last night I flipped it on to wash my hands, it ran for a minute then made a funny noise and quit. Power to the motor but nothing coming out to the pressure cut-off switch. It doesn't look to hard to change. Definately easier than the water pump on the V10. One time I changed the water pump on a 1992 Suburban in less than a hour on the side of the road.
