JB welded my cracked grey water tank. Installed the drop down legs on the back rest of my 79" gaucho. That should cure the sagging issue I had. Continued to try and figure out the rear shock issue. Thinks I mights gots it figured out.

JB weld is not water tight, especially on plastic. I speak from experience.

Over the weekend I finished my light project which means there are only 4 or 5 things left to do on the light project... I also cleaned up and reattached the house battery-to-frame ground.

I'm getting ready for a short trip to Iowa for my dad's BD (86th).

Rotated tires and set pressure to 65psi

Wash and Wax

Flush the water system

Tonight is the oil change and lube and change water in the tank.

This weekend I'll start to stock the van with food.

Next weekend I'm off for three weeks.

JB Weld

I always carry a small set of ( Marine Tex ) and Plumbers or Marine Goop these are the only adhesives that will adhere to Polyethelene Plastics and that is for a short term fix on this type of plastic . The only way to correctly repair these tanks is with a Hot Air Welder .The two above adhesive/fillers are both available www.marinewest.com and should be staples in your vehicles road repair kits .

Damn, thanks for the info about he JB weld. That's a bummer. I have Marine tex for sailboard repairs and it works great. I agree, it would only be a temp fix though. Guess its time to get a good plastic welder, but I've spent too much $ on tools this month. Now you guys know what to get me for Father's Day!

I trimmed down the shower walls.
- The walls extended to the top of the van roofline
- made loading difficult.
- a larger shower curtain will replace the walls.
- The new shorter walls will support a small bench, thus extending the dinette couch to 6' long
- Cutting the paperboard was easy with a jigsaw and fine tooth blade.
- need to buy a jointer to make new grooves to replace the rubber edging.

I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Here is a before picture

I rotated all 5 tires (used the spare in the rotation process) this past weekend. My main motivation for doing, besides the tire benefit, was to make sure I could change each of the tires in case of a flat while on a road trip. I used the stock Ford jack and worked surprisingly well. I didn't encounter any difficulties and this was a good trial experience.

I also waxed the van including the penthouse top. I used a 3M marine fiberglass wax for the top. It is really convenient having a West Marine close by since many of the marine tools and gear work very well in a SMB.

Someone with what must have been a large truck "bumped" into my van while it was sitting at the bottom of the driveway pushing the spare tire just a little closer to the van body. The only real damage was to bend one and crack the other latch bracket attached to the rear Aluminess bumper. I ordered two more brackets from Aluminess (and the new hinge bolts since I was talking to them). I just installed the new brackets and lubed the latch mechanisms.

The new brackets Aluminess sent are obviously a new, sturdier version. The metal itself is thicker and the rod passes through the metal now and is welded to the outside of the bracket rather than being welded to the inside of the bracket on the older version.
