Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

I also removed the restrictor and switched to Donaldson filter for the full flow. I didn't use teflon on the hose fittings and hope I don't regret it. I did use it on the allen screw that held the restrictor in place.

I'm going to be at SMB sometime in the next few weeks having my house battery replaced and a second one added, so if its leaking I may have them try to resolve it.

Next on my list is to lube the font wheel bearings, but the weather is too crummy for that today. I don't have the luxury of a garage my van will fit in.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Oil sample taken for Blackstone oil analysis. Easy.
Amsoil engine oil change, including swap to Donaldson filter vice EA026. OK
Restrictor removal in filter head. Really easy.
Swapped oil lines to filter head. What a PITA!

Note: Took before and after temperature measurements of each filter as it was, and then after the filter change/restrictor removal/line swap. Will post temperature results in Amsoil thread, hopefully tomorrow. Hint: there's a big difference.

Note: When changing both filters, the rubber gasket from the old filters remained in the filter head assembly. I didn't notice this until I had almost fully installed both (filled with fresh oil) new filters. I can't even imagine the mess and potential engine disaster the could have happened.

That actually happens quite frequently to me (2 of 3 times). I always wipe down the adapter plate after removing the filters and shine a light up there to make sure al is clean. Glad you caught that!

I'm looking forward to hearing about the temp differences. Sorry to hear you had as much fun as Phil & I did swapping the oil lines.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Packed the van for a trip.

- Refill the water tank x 3
- Clean the mold out of the refrig (who closed that door?)
- Stock with food
- Plenty of clothes for cold weather.
- Synthetic oil in the engine
- Power Service winter additive ready
- Air in the tires
- Trailer full of firewood and drinking water
- Books to read
- Gas for the generator
- Tire Chains
- WiFi Laptop

Going to Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, etc. Want to see the parks in snow.

My wife says she wants to drive the van part of the time. Now I'm scared to go.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Mmm finished my spare tire spacer, replaced said spare, ran around to find a replacement lug nut for the one the j-wad who put the tires on and promised to build the spacer in the first place kept, and cleaned and returned my anode rod to it's place, since the local RV shop is OUT, and there is plenty left.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Did the line swap on the Amsoil oil lines and removed the restrictor. I swapped the lines at the filter adapter on the engine end. Fittings came loose with just the right amount of effort. Easy to get a cresent wrench on the 45 degree adaptor too. The allen screw for the restrictor was really tight. Nothing a 15" pipe on the wrench wouldn't cure though. Nice to have both oil filters hot from filtered oil for a change!! As mentioned elsewhere, kinda weird having to only add 15 quarts of oil to bring it up to full on the dip stick. That's what Ford says it takes with a stock filter setup.
