Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Thanks!

I've got a Wilson 1000, but it's got a magnet base and I was thinking of going the Firestik route.

More research.

Paul

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Mac,
Your van has taken on a whole new personality! I like it! How'd you get the ladder? I called Aluminess last week and they didn't have any ladders. I'm on back order.
Yup....you are done spending anymore $$ on the SMB.....until you aren't! It never stops. There will be periods of "non-spending" followed by periods of "$PENDING". It's out of your control. You joined this cult.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Added steering stabilizers. Probably the best 140 dollars spent on the van yet. Interesting fact. I had 315's on the van from Sportsmobile and it always tracked straight and not too much wander on the freeway. I switched to 305's and it started to wander like it had a mind of its own. So much so my wife refused to drive it anymore. After making sure it wasn't any steering components I added a steering stabilizer kit from skyjacker. Much, much better!!!!!! No more wander at highway speed. I have the factory SMB 4x4 system and there was barely enough room above the bolts and between the leaf springs. So close in fact I cut off the ends of the bolts that were sticking up just to be safe. Also tilted the whole unit down a little to clear the big nut. Easy do it yourself project. Will paint it black when I respray undercarriage this spring.

This is what I got;

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I pulled on of the penthouse 16w florescent lights out when I put the van in storage for the winter. Just got around to rewiring the light to add LED's. If I did it correctly I will have three lighting level options: ~5w of LED's, 16w of florescent lighting, and ~21w of all light on.

The light (rr) has always been to bright when in the penthouse bed. This will let us cut it down to 5w when in bed or requiring some lighting when off the grid.

When we are playing cards or such at the table the overhead liighting is not quite enough for comfort so the 20w option might come in handy.

Hopefully I will get out to the van in a week or two and install the fixture. If it works out as intended will do the same to the front fixture.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I guess that's it, Mac? No more spending money on the van?

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

I forgot I ordered the spacers before I made the promise not to spend more money on my van. Of course, I'm pretty sure I'm going to break that promise anyway, so I withdraw the promise. I wonder if I can find a sponsor to fund my purchases.

I think that is your book publisher.

That's true, since all of my purchases, including the van, have been made with "free" money in my "fun fund" that comes from book sales. But now, sadly, the fun fund is running dry. So people . . . get out there and buy my books so I can spend more money on my Sportsmobile.
