Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

Use the mystery hose to fill drinking water and not have to use a garden hose. The RV hose is much better for drinking water. Oh... and hot tubs too.

I added some stainless steel chains to my mudflaps to keep them from being destroyed when I go down a steep trail such as the Flint Trail in Canyonlands. I lost all my naked ladies like that.

Stole the idea from a classic Land Cruiser I saw.

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

After the refrig project decided it was time to replace my two 6 year old house batteries. Replaced the two Delco "sealed" Voyager group 29 batteries (wired in parrallel) with two Costco Interstate golf cart 6 volt batteries (wired in series). The golf cart CG2 batteries are 1.250000" taller then the group 29 batteries, but I had 1.24900000" of 'extra' overhead space in my battery compartment. Measure 10 times, buy and cut once. It worked with -0.0000001" to spare (rather hold things tight).

1. had to build new battery ventilation for the new batteries (storage is in the van and batteries are vented out side the van).
2. Delco had both threaded studs and battery posts. Interstate CG2's had only studs. Cut, solder wiring.
3. Two batteries in series required different wire lengths then the two batteries in parallel. Cut, solder, new wiring.
4. 6 year old Delco batteries cost $140 each back then. New Costco Interstates cost $84 each.

Doing load test now. 21 hours into test and it looks like I can run my new refrig off of the house batteries for 2 1/2 days before I discharge the house batteries 50% (down to 12.25 volts). Happy camper.

What did you do to your SMB today?

Ive got a local fabricator building me a bumper and got some mock up pics.
It is designd to be a platform bumper with interior storage and led reverse lights.
It will have some tie down rings on top as well for misc uses..

Re: What did you do to your SMB today?

reelchef67 i like your bumper.
Have in mind that you have to open the rear doors. Sometimes if you are on uneven ground (van is twisting) the doors need more space to the bumper to get open. Also the handle of storage or other things will poke out of the bumpers surface. I had the problem after i built in storage and tirecarrier at a later time. Keep us posting pics. It is a great project.
