Fixed the penthouse J-hook rattles......so nice!!!!!!!

Popped grommets in the holes.....simple.

The holes are 1" diameter and the metal is 1/8" thick. With powder coat they are about .140" thick.

Amazingly, I could not find an exact fit grommet at McMaster Carr, but the grommets I bought for my rear bumper backup sensors worked well after I cut out a small pie shaped section to make them smaller.

I Finally Just got a little bit of solar..

I really haven’t had a need for a very fancy high power system so I hope this will do. After having my van for over 3 years now I just hopped right into it. So I put a Renogy 160 watt panel on the roof and a flush mount Renogy 30 amp Adventurer charge controller. Now I’m on the hunt for a proper battery. I put an old battery out of my Jeep in it to test everything and It seems to be charging it up nicely. I’m a little excited to have some more juice in the future!

No bent Pop-Top cross bars for me with this resolve: it almost became a reality yesterday when I began to raised my roof so I could clean & condition the canvas/glass... Hook behind drivers seat caught on the way up and I JUST HAPPEN TO SEE IT before any damage was done.
After reading over the years about how often this "accidently" occurs, I thought for sure it would never happen to me since I'd been forewarned by those examples.
Fixed the issue by installing "Marine canvas hooks" directly across from the Pop-Top hooks - too obvious now not to utilize them.
Small 1" black wood screws go right through the small hole they already have in the center, and it mounts easily to the roof. Also purchased the rubber grommets from Ace Hardware down the street (had the correct size for 90 cents each) and followed the advise of boywonder and applied them in the holes the hooks latch to.

A simple, brilliant solution!

Since I got back from my Wyoming pronghorn hunt, I put some lights on the van, and an antenna...

and a GMRS radio under the homebrew cup holder...

and finally installed the deck plate that's been sitting around for about a year in the water tank.

And on my truck, I installed a front half bumper and winch, and the gas tank skidplate that's been sitting around almost as long as the deck plate!

Well, not just today, but being stuck at home for the summer resulted in all new suspension front and rear, (ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings, bearings, etc) new remote reservoir Fox shocks, new full float differential rebuilt with Yukon gears and a Duragrip, new brake rotors and calipers, LED headlights, a new parking brake set up, a trac bar,a new diesel heater, some tube work (unfinished though) carpet, lighting, gauges, wheels and tires, and more. Now it's time to go out and play............

Glad you solved that problem, but I'm a bit curious why your J-hooks rattle in the first place...(?)

I keep mine screw-adjusted so tight that they never rattle. Am I doing it wrong?
