Not sure if my water system is different than other SMBs of the same era (2001), but I’ve had issues with being able to drain the under body water lines when camping in sub-freezing conditions. I always had a slow drip, which would freeze. Added an inline valve after the pump so I can now drain the outboard water line. Of course this means that water is unavailable until the outside drain is closed again.

Can you still close the plastic door with the new handle/fixture? Looks larger than the original.

The pictured valve doesn't replace the SMB one, it's in addition to prevent water from trickling past the Shurflow pump and out the rear underbody drain valve. A couple of years ago I froze & cracked the fresh water hookup fill valve when I thought I had drained the line. At least on my SMB version, there was no way to prevent water from entering the fill line when I had water in the tank (even with power turned off to the pump). The new valve is only about 3" long and doesn't impact the door. I'm sure there are better methods to accomplish this task, but I just needed a quick and accessible way to prevent freezing the line again.

would like to see the finished product and your new turning radius before I would attempt the modification. Let us know how it goes!

BTW: added my basic rack for Ray’s awning next days ;-)
Will eventually be Raptor lined, but that’s the basic set up

Gutter clamps: Smittybilt HDS (the ones with the right angle, not the 45 degrees)
