Re: Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!
I looked on the AFE website and they only make cold air intake systems for the V10 in gas vans. Does anyone know where to purchase one for a 5.7L engine van?
Thanks.

Do you mean 5.4L? If yes, the V10 intake is the same. However, the V8 is probably not choke limited by the OEM filter like the V10 is.

Re: Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!
Sorry,
Yes, I meant 5.4L
By choke limited you mean there would be no benefit to using one?
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Who makes air intakes for Ford Vans?!
Exactly. The 5.4L doesn't pull enough volume to need a higher flow filter. After all, it is using the same intake as the larger V10.
If you add a cat-back exhaust, then you might get into the area where a new air filter will help, but for the 5.4L I think a drop-in K&N (orAFE) filter element will be as much as you need.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has experience with Zylstra lately and their cold air intake kit for the 6.0 psd.

They quit using filters similar to K&N and now have a paper element available (S&B). The link shows the size of the things...quite large. They told me the reusable filters were throwing codes but I can’t verify that. Seems one member complained about it. The only thing I don't like is the filter's exposed to my hood vents and rain. I installed an aluminum plate over the air filter so if water does get in it will divert away from it. As far as smog, it passed. Performance wise it's hard to say because it was installed when all the other performance options were added to the van.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I had an inquiry to Zylstra but have not heard back. I didn't think about the hood louvers.
The stock air intake is actually pretty decent on the trucks but the vans is a bit more lacking. Not sure it really makes that much of a difference unless you're going for more HP but just looking for more feedback.

I think they build the box/adaptor to fit our vans but the filter itself is in the open. It has a foam wrap around the element also.

Whatever you do, try to use a dryflow filter of some sort. Oil bath filters and maf sensors don't play well together.

I hope he doesn't mind but these are pics I lifted from Greggd's page of his Zylstra setup. Not sure if it's an free flowing air upgrade or not but I have a uncurable case of upgradeitis
And I'm not that impressed with the stock air box or the faulty filter minder.
