2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
First I want to thank everyone for all of the great posts that you share on here. I love to read about all of the great things you do to your vans.
I bought my 2008 E-350 used and it is missing the knee bar foam pad and my dealer can not seem to find the part number for it. The dealer thinks it might be a part that is $700 that is a main dash brace but they can not say for sure and the only part in stock at a dealer in the US is in Texas someplace so its not like I can go and look at it.While I would love to have the part I am not going to pay too much for it. Since many of you that are doing some amazing mods to your vans under the dash I was wondering if any of you have ever seen a part number on the foam block located under the steering column cover. Many of you mount switches and other things in that area and maybe it interferes with those. I have seen a picture (item #3) of it in the Factory Ford Service manual and the base part number is 15043C74 in the picture. I think that this style pad is only used on the 2007 and 2008 vans. Before that they had an aluminum plate in that spot and the dash changed in 2009 so I think they might be different. Any help would great or even a place to buy a used one.
Thanks for your help...

Re: 2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
I have a '08 and there is no foam insert behind the panel. The vinyl panel has lugs on it that push directly into the sheet metal brackets. The area behind the panel is filled up with two fuse boxes, and the Hella TPMS. It doesn't look like there was ever any foam pad.

2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
My 08 has it, maybe SMB takes them out to make room for all that stuff Charlie56 mentioned. Maybe the dumpster @ Sportsmobile has a bunch?

Whatever it is, I wouldn't $700 for it! If not SMB, it's not too soon to find them in a junkyard- at a pick and pull you can investigate for yourself.
Silver, got any idea what the purpose is?

Re: 2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
My 09 has something foam in that location. I assumed it was to reduce knee breakage in a crash.

Re: 2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
Thanks for the replies.
I know it is supposed to have one whoever removed it even re installed the bolts.
I have seen them on other 07-08 vans and yes dhally I think it is a knee bar pad to help your knees in a crash that's why I want to replace it. So if any of you that still have one ever see a part number on it please let me know.

Re: 2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
My '08 has it, and I'll be digging around in there in the next couple weeks to install my charging relay control switch. Hopefully you're not in too much of a hurry, but I'll post it here when I can.

No foam in my '08, just the plastic cover that snaps on.

Re: 2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
does anybody know how to get the plastic cover/trim piece off? I tried pully mine off but it seemed to be attached to the foam part. I want to trim the plastic piece to make the engine cover easier to get on and off.

Re: 2007-2008 Econoline Part Number Question?
Mine just pulls (snaps) straight back. It's held on by 4 (I think) posts that snap into holes in the fixed part of the dash. (But I also don't have any foam, so mine might be different.
