2009 Ford 6 disc changer in a 2008 Econoline

I have a 2008 E350. I acquired a 2009 Factory 6 disc changer. I got the wiring harness out of the donor vehicle so I could make a pig tail for my econoline. I spliced together a radio harness adapter and the ends out of the vehicle the 6 disc changer came from. I plugged it in and it doesn't turn on. If I push the CD eject button I can hear it has power. Anyone have any idea why it won't turn on? Is there another wire I need?

Some of the OEM units are VIN specific. There is a microprocessor circuit in the head unit that requires a security code from the vehicle. A Ford dealer can reprogram it for a price.
I have seen posts where people have removed the security circuit from the HU. I don't have my finger on one right now.
There could also be harness changes between 08 and 09.
You should, however, be getting more than just eject cycle functions. If properly wired up the HU should light up with something like "RADIO LOCKED" in the display window.
There is both a constant power circuit to maintain programing in the HU and a ACC feed that powers the HU with the key on.

If you really want a compact disc changer I think I have a Sony 10 disc add on car changer in my basement that you can have for shipping cost.
