We mount not on the racks, but on the TRACKS. THis keeps the panels lower to the top and still gives the movement flexibility. It tooks special feet to mount to the tracks.

Because of the lower profile, I suppose the rack towers would keep ny other equipment load above the panels. We have not loaded our kayaks up top yet, but they should slide right over the panels when using the racks.

Where did you get your feet Greg?

I am thinking I can move my windsurf gear back to the rear of the PH, and put some more tracks up to the front of the PH top - and put maybe a 65W up there. Now - over the cab...if I put racks up there, the panel will sit as high as the lowered PH top.

We had SMB TX fab them. They look pretty simple, but I think the key is connecting the mounting portion to the portion that slides in the track.

There are a few pics in the gallery where you can get views of them, but no close ups.

If I can remember I will get some pics tomorrow provided it does not rain.... HA...45 days over 100, and 88 days in a row over 90.... rain?? right!

Sorry that was a typo...should have read Yakima tracks. I want to get rid of those bars all together and replace with a rack similar to the twolost rig only lighter and smaller resting on the rear portion of the PH.

You bring up something I have wondered.... how much do those racks weigh?

I was afraid to go that direction because I was worried about the total weight. I was worried the rack itself would limit the gear I could carry.

We are now working on how we can configure things up top for different sets of gear and different situations.
