Re: About paralleling batteries
I agree. It was a great read! The thread was hilarious at times. I was wondering about the possibility of draining my SMB hourse batteries into the van starting battery if the separator combined starting and house battery banks, since my voltage readings seem to indicate the starting battery is usually lower than the house battery voltage - setting up an imbalance that would have to be equalized. From this reading it doesn't sound like that can happen - there's no significant load being drawn from a lower voltage battery on its own, you would need some van accessory load or a short (in the battery or elsewhere). Tell me if I should be concerned. I'm still unraveling the actual wiring diagram for my set-up. It looks like SMB put the disconnect switch I ordered in between the separater and the DC panel. Odd. I was thinking it would go between the batteries and the separater. Still chewing on this.
