AC breaker box / power center

Hi,

I had some dead circuit breakers in the ac load center of my 92 e250 sportsmobile.

While replacing the breakers, the positive power bar broke away from the box (old plastic). The breakers are ge thhqp, which apparently are old school, as is the breaker panel.

So… time for a new power distribution center. Google finds a lot of marine products. Has anyone replaced their load center? What do new sportsmobile’s use?

Any advice appreciated!

I replaced mine with an identical Power Dynamics model that was originally used by Sportsmobile so the switch was straightforward - same hole, same wiring, new breakers, new load center.

Thanks, Mike! Sportsmobile Texas sent me a link to a progressive dynamics box as well.

My van has the ac breakers and dc fuses in separate boxes (and places).

I could run the dc wires into this box, but i’d have to splice extensions on them.

Or, just use the new box for ac only.

Thanks again:-)

I was going to say that not all Sportsmobile used the progressive dynamics box.

How many breakers did your box have 30 amp main, and X number of branch circuits.

Hi Scalf 77.

My box is a GE with thhqp slim breakers.

The van has one 30amp service breaker, one 20 amp for the starcool, and two 15 amps (fridge and outlets)

Bluesea has some ac-only marine boxes that might work.

My box is mounted through the bottom of the driver’s side bench seat, which exposes the breaker to foot traffic/damage.

A recessed box with a door is a must.

Thanks!

They do make a recessed AC breaker panel only That might work, or purchase the dual and move the DC over at your leisure.

There is a Blue Sea 360 Panel with flat switches, certainly not recessed but less prone to damage. It is pricey.
