Adding Cruise Control '06 E-350 Woes

Guys.
If you added the correct steering wheel and clock spring/ you NEED to get it activated. Ie - ford dealer connects their ford scan tool and resets the parameters (they turn on speed control).
You can play with fuses till you are blue in the face but it’s not going to sold the issue with a ford scan tool.
I did this on an 06. Steering wheel, clock spring, program- done!

While it is the best course of action, there are plenty of documented cases where the owner did not need to turn on cruise. They changed the parts, and it worked.

So, try the parts, make sure they are right, then if it doesn't work find a Ford dealer that isn't an *******. lol

Unfortunately, 2004 and older are not "fly by wire". There are mechanical parts needed to manually manipulate the intake manifold.

The clockspring has to be the correct version for VSC to work. Once the new part arrives look at the electrical connector end and it should be clear there is a difference.

This thread deals exclusively with enabling VSC (aka "cruise control" for 2005 and later---it is NOT pertinent to model years 2004 and earlier. There are not only a number of physical parts needed but the van needs certain pre-existing wiring Ford built into it.

Without that wiring Ford OEM VSC can NOT be added. Should that be the case check into a Rosta aftermarket system. This is the wiring and connector that must be in place:


There is no work around if its not present---aftermarket VSC only at that point.

Updates... The new clockspring came in today from ford

The part number on the outside of the box was "AA" but the internal part was "AB".

I pulled this diagram and tested the connectors. Everything lines up properly, and all of the buttons work, as well as the hot wire feeding the buttons.



Here is my button model number (it has backlight):

This leads me to believe the only remaining troubleshooting option is to find someone with IDS to check the "speed control" and make sure it is "present". This shouldn't be that hard.

That being said, if that fixes it, I have a brand new clockspring and used set of cruise buttons for sale soon. lol

I added cruise to my 06 E350. I needed a cruise wheel with button cutouts, buttons, clockspring, replaced a bad master cylinder pressure switch and had my buddy who's a Ford master tech enable VSC (vehicle speed control) in my PCM with Forescan. I have no dash light and it won't engage below 30mph, FYI.
