Adding Danhard A/C question

I was planning to add Danhard A/C to my Sprinter doing the work myself. I was looking at the 70-2030 (http://www.danhard.com/pub/catalog06.pdfpage 50). It was mentioned that SMB installs a 60-2040 but I can find no specs on this model.

Even though the 7030 information says, "70-2030 is a quality high performing system that was designed for mobile applications. Only proven automotive parts are used in the construction of these systems to ensure reliability and service at over 7000 auto a/c facilities nationwide." and "Universal vehicle application - a challenge to one’s imagination." and "Meets or exceeds U.L. , RVIA , IMACA , and S.A.E. standards." Danhard says they will not sell one to me!

From Danhard, "The 70-2030 will not handle the heat load you will have on your sprinter and that’s why we will not sale it for that application."

So I asked for the specs of the 60-2040 and this is what Danhard said. "Unfortunately, I don’t have the literature for the Sportsmobile system. They have designed this system in cooperation with us to fit the vehicle and they have all the literature."

I am waiting to hear back from SMB.

Finally, the question - For those that have A/C is it Danford and is it a model 60-4020? I find it strange that Danhard does not list it as a product and wonder what they do about warranty work.

BTW. the drawing fo the typical installation show a camper type vehicle about the size of my Sprinter.

Regards,
Keith

Re: Adding Danhard A/C question

Did you ever come up with a solution on your a/c? I have the Danhard 60-2040 from SMB, and am trying to figure out some workarounds on having to have the generator running while using it. I am trying to figure out how to run the a/c while the van is running and the power is converted. I am running into a similar problem with no real info on draw and output for all the involved components. Would love to hear how yours worked out. Thanks.

Re: Adding Danhard A/C question

No. I gave up on the Danhard. They don't seem to need any new business.

This lost priority but now I am going to have SMB put a roof mount a/c on.

I don't plan on running it without being plugged in.

Regards,

Keith

Re: Adding Danhard A/C question

My understanding is that Sportsmobile sold the rights to Danard a while back so they would improve and build the systems. Sportsmobile now buys the system from Danard and installs it.

I guess this accounts for the large price jump from the Starcool III to the Danard.
