Adding Fog lights off the factory switch?

2008 E350
Has anyone been able to add fog lights using the factory switch from a Pickup truck (that has fog lights...)?
I'd really like that clean look of a factory install but I don't if the wiring, computer, or power distribution box controls that, It does not appear to be as simple is grabbing a power lead off the back of the switch.
The switch looks the same.

That isn't how it works. Lights need relays. It isn't just the switch going to the light. Plus fuses of certain amperage are needed.

Dig a little deeper on how automotive electrics work before you monkey with headlights. I started when I was 16 yrs old and I'm still learning.

Yes. find a pinout of the switch or probe it out to find which two pins are associated with the fog light feature then use those pins to ground a relay.

It's more of if there is a trigger wire to power the relay off the back of the switch, or is it can bus powered from the smart junction box?

The switch is not in stock by me, so I'd hate to spend $40 on it then be stuck with it

Although you are correct, I don't find this to be entirely true. Leds can have low enough draw to run off a fused switch. It all depends on the voltage/amp draw. It is wiser to use relays but again with Leds not entirely necessary!
