Re: Alarm issues on shore power
I'm using CrimeGuard car alarms DIY install and have recently discovered there's a cold weather anomaly where the alarm will temporarily lose its power. When the power is restored my configuration doesn't trigger its operation however it doesn't re-arm itself either. While troubling in itself the fact restoration of its power doesn't set it off might have something to do with the programmable features I've selected or more importantly those de-selected.
There are upwards of 14 programmable options one of which is "auto re-arm" and I'm sure the Viper brand has something similar. Printed instructions for the alarm describe this as "Allows the alarm to re-arm itself, if it is Disarmed and a vehicle door is not opened." If this sort of feature is present in your system disabling it could eliminate the shore power trigger issue.
Consult your alarm manual for programming steps. If one wasn't included check Viper's website for a downloadable & printable version.
