Batteries

Ive been reading the posts about batteries and charging problems.. but no one has mentioned that all the batteries should be same type. In the
Tripp-Lite manual it says" Multiple battery systems must be comprised of batteries of identical voltage, age, amp-hour capacity and type."

I have done that with all my other multiple batt systems except SMB.

My thoughts are. I feel my charger(tripp-lite) is killing my wet cell start batts. One of them is always warm when being charged. (not good) My tripp lite has a 13.9 volt float charge, which seems to much for wet cell batteries, hence the warmth..I know its a problem having all the same batteries but it might solve problems in the long run.

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff I was worried about the same thing and called Xantrex. They said not to worry that the difference was not enough to cause problems. Now they did say not to use the equilzation mode for wet cells on the AGM batteries. (I'm still not positive about their answer about wet vs AGM and am watching it closely) Maybe Trip-Lite is difference. I would say call the tech support and discuss it with them. My van was only a year old and had the same problem of one starting battery overheating during an overnight charge. Two Ford dealerships said there was no problems with the starting batteries. I took it to a friend who pulled both batteries and one was bad. Ford will lie to you. Knowing you never change only one I swapped out both and have not had a problem since. BTW I have solar and wondered about the same thing....so far so good and not to say I won't have future problems. (has not been over a year yet) Please post when you find an answer.
