Thanks for confirming my suspicion Brian and Greg. I have very little knowledge on how old the breaker is, part of buying second hand I suppose. First step is replacing it with a like-for-like unit because it is cheap ($12 from uncle bezos). Really don't want to open up the parts cannon on this thing yet after replacing the AGMs this weekend.

As BrianW said is good time to put an upgrade on her wish list.

Thanks for the tip in the breaker switch. Installed the new blue sea piece and my heart sunk when I still failed to get a charge at idle. Was able to push in the little button and fired the van back up and ... It works! 14.5v reading at the inverter. Thanks for the help.

You should work to have this thread closed and replaced by your updated one as the stickied thread in the Electric and Electronics forum rather than post this.

I have a somewhat related electrical question:
I have a 2003 E350 SMB
I have 2 auxiliary power outlets (cigarette lighters) on the dash
Top one has a rubber cover and there is no power
The bottom works fine.
I assume they are factory installed
I can not find the fuse for the top one
Anyone have a # for the fuse box?

They should be factory installed. You should be able to access the back of the outlet from behind the dash. Perhaps you can probe the wires and follow them. Cigar Lighter shown as F2.26 (for 2006) fuse. I'd be surprised if it was a different circuit than the other one.....

moorefc,
How do I get to/access the back of the outlet?
Is there a dedicated fuse # ie: fuse slot in the fuse box for the power outlets?

Back of outlet from below, remove lower right knee cover perhaps for better light. Lay on your back and look up. Also I believe I removed the radio at one time and that is another access.

Don't know about the fuse question.
