Best/Largest TV in SMB

Any recommendations on largest LCD in my SMB? I will mount in the place of the 9" TV cabinet
- 15" is too small, but 19 appears too big.
- A dvd player is not needed

I've seen recommendation for the Insignia 15" from Best Buy for a small trailer its 12VDC with 120VAC brick. So its good for running off the battery.
- I like the fact that cord plugs face downward and not back
- The 4:3 ratio, but widescreen is nice too.

Yeah, I have a 24" in mine, but it's a 110v computer monitor. It looks awesome and I have it hooked up to an xbox360 over hdmi, and a dish receiver over composite (single yellow cable) since the dish receiver isn't hd. plus remote leads for component hookup, secondary hdmi, and vga.

But you did say that 19" was too big.

Also, I've seen a 32" mounted across from a goucho with a powered hide-away cabinet.

Wow, I don't think I'd want to sit that close to a 32" monitor, of is the intent to watch it from the next campsite over?

I believe the vehicle was a non-camper and was merely for rides to the ski chalets, sort of a semi limo.

If you're watching HD that close it would be ok, but barely. my 24 is just large enough to give a big screen effect for anyone sitting in the back, and it's awesome for playing games on. It also helps that that particular monitor has a really good scaler in it too, which helps make the non hd images look better.

I don't really get this guys. First of all why do you need "the biggest screen that will fit" when at best you will be 6 feet away? If I really wanted to watch something on the "big screen" I'd just stay at home, not drive out to some real remote area and sit in the back of a van. It's the idea of the SMB a back country adventure vehicle? I know I know if you don't have anything nice to say.........

Well, I can speak for myself in that my van is a road tripper. One of our design goals was to create a layout that would increase our radius of places we could get to in our long weekends or week long vacations. By having the longer benches in the back and the in-motion satellite, we can trade off driving shifts and the passengers can chill in the back watching tv or playing video games (if we're on the highway...)

I also end up playing video games in the van at home sometimes when I'm hanging out 'in my fort'.

I think 24" is bad as I need some space for the kids and don't want them to bump into the monitor. The dinette seats 4, I have 3 sitting there. Of course if I found a creative way to store a 24"...

Other thoughts...
- Here is my issue with size, I want to be able to move the TV to the outside for Tailgating parties and for the 5 of us when camping. So the biggest possible is desired.
- A small 19" widescreen might fit, but mounting options might be limited. A small 19" will have small speakers.
- A 15" should offer the most flexiblity for mounting and larger speakers.
- A 20 might fit too
- Prefer to have 12VDC...110V inverter is possible, but will drain batteries quicker
- A slide out from inside the pantry has some 'cool' appeal too

What I'll do is take my 19" widescreen monitor and 'dry fit' and proceed from there.

Well if we even end up on the same camping trip (death valley perhaps) and my children are missing I know where to look for them! I'm finally giving in this xmas and getting a video game for them. They have been bugging me forever about it. I will be sitting by the fire drinking something alcoholic. I must also admit that in a couple rainy occasions I have watched a movie in the van on the laptop. Hey it works.
