Blower motor resistor

It seems like the front blower motor on my 2002 EB only works on high speed. Am assuming that the speed control resistor has failed. Has anyone changed this part out for a new one?

You most likely do have a failed resistor network---the highest speed is actuated by a relay that handles the higher current more than the dash-mounted switch.

I've changed my own but also the pigtail lead from the chassis wiring to the network. It would also be a good idea to check the dash switch and its pigtail lead too--over time the high current demand tends to cause issues with those parts.

I had one speed "missing" on my blower, and it turned out to be the dash switch. In my case, speeds 2 and 3 were the same--but the blower operated in both positions. As I understand, this is a fairly common problem.

The blower resistor (at least on my 2008) is accessed from the engine bay, after pulling the battery. Unrelatedly, I checked mine recently but my problem turned out to be a dead motor (brushes were completely worn out).

When i changed mine i also replaced the blower fan. Once the fan was out i looked back inside the plenum and the AC evaporator was completely packed with dog hair that had been sucked up into the plenum over the last 15 years.

Not that its related to your problem, but it explained why it never really seemed to blow alot of air.

If the blower housing was packed with dog hair about the only way that would happen is running the A/C system in Max Air which is really just re-circulating cabin air. The fresh air intake for the HVAC system is outside the van under the plastic cowling just below the windshield on the passenger's side.
