Can't get wires thru bulkhead

I put some driving lights in the holes in my front bumper and was trying to wire them to the van electrical. I couldn't find a route from the engine compartment to the dash. It was unbelievable how much stuff is packed in there like a puzzle. I tried for an hour and could not find a hole or a location to put one. I've done this so many times on other vehicles, but these vans are different. I've never been defeated, but I gave up after an hour of contortionism and flashlights. What the hell?

In the course of trying, I removed the black styrofoam piece from behind the removeable panel under the steering wheel. What the heck is that for? It's now living in my garage waiting for a real purpose in life.

Wires through bulkhead

There's a grommeted hole on the outboard kick panels. On some models it's used for power windows and such.

I used this on my old (non SMB) van to bring antenna wire and 12V power inside. On the drivers side, it's located behind the plastic cover where the hood release is. You can also see it from the outside when the driver door is opened and you look by the hinges.

As an alternative, you could come up through the floor under the drivers plastic foot well. The foot well unscrews easily and pops out. You can make a hole, inset a grommet, run your wires and silicone the remaining hole space.
